about

A hymn

lyrics

Godless (By H.McMillan)

Pinned upon a spinning rock between void and earthly grave
Castle-buildings in the sand that wash away in waves

With clasped-hands and head down-turned we pray unto the sky
A black and vast expanse of space with nothing in reply

The norms and moral codes we share, religious holy laws
Merely guide along life's path, yet blame us for or flaws

We plough our salt seeds down so deep so others never see
The pain and suffering is endured with silent dignity

Yet battles wage in holy names for one god or another
We praise the lord to bless our cause and crucify our brothers

No greater power shall prevail than that whick lies within us
So we can stand up, strong and proud, without the tag of 'sinner'

Godless. Here I stand Godless and naked in the storm.
